Philanthropic and Community Service

One of VARN's missions is to enhance the quality of life for those affected by disability and chronic illness.

To that means, we have agreed to sign on and support both state and national efforts of many professional organizations in the pursuit of parity for amputees. Our own Jeanne Gant and Jennie Hill represented VARN at the Virginia State legislature along with John Rush, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, Hanger Orthopedic Group, Inc.,and Dan Ignaszewski National Advocacy Specialist, Amputee Coalition of America, visiting with six members of the Senate Commerce and Labor Committee legislators/aides to impress upon them the importance of mobility as a quality of life issue but also as a cost effective alternative to immobility. Jeanne and Jennie are pleased to report that the bill narrowly passed through committee and will go to the Senate. WAY TO GO JEANNE & JENNIE!!!!

We need your help to urge members of the Virginia General Assembly to address the many important issues facing people with limb loss. Getting rehabilitation nurses to contact their representatives, with help them understand the need for this important legislation. Please encourage your members of the Virginia General Assembly today and encourage them to support Prosthetic Benefits - HB 1977 (Del. Ware) SB 1116 (Sen. Ticer).
