President's Message

It is fall once again, and a transformational time to network services and obtain CEUs by attending our next conference in Fredericksburg titled "What Boggles the Mind"…"How to Identify, Treat, and Prevent Decline". Liz Hunt, Northern Virginia Vice President, knows what boggles our minds and has carefully chosen outstanding speakers to approach and educate us on the recent challenges for caregivers with cognitive decline, stages of Alzheimer's, migraines, sleep apnea, and post-concussive syndrome. Join us at Stafford Hospital Center on November 13, 2009 for this event and CEU opportunity.

Every year ARN's national conference becomes more spectacular in location and focus. This year Albuquerque, New Mexico is the chosen city, and from October 21, 2009 until October 24, 2009, the focus of this conference is to increase awareness of new trends in rehabilitation health care and state-of-the-art approaches to improving patient care and outcomes. I will be attending with Susan Wirt and Liz Hunt. I don't know if they will, but I am attending the WALKING GHOST TOUR, and the ARN 35TH ANNIVERSARY RECEPTION. It is an honor to mention that our chapter board member, Susan Wirt, will receive this year's ARN Case Manager's Role Award for excellence at the Awards Presentation on October 24, 2009. She was nominated for her participation in the advancement of rehabilitation nursing. VARN thanks her for her endless efforts to improve our chapter's visibility on the website and overall involvement to reach new members and reach our goals.

On behalf of the VARN Board, we welcome you to join our board, becoming a VARN member, and/or becoming a VARN sponsor for meeting. Fall is a great time to reset goals professionally and become involved.
